Huntingdon, Tenn.—As The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center in Huntingdon kicks off its 13th season this August, it will once again host an all-star lineup of programs and performers.
This season’s lineup at The Dixie includes Sara Evans, “Whistling” Bill Anderson, Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives, T.G. Sheppard, Guy Penrod, formerly of the Gaither Vocal Band , and Pam Tillis. Also appearing will be The Glen Miller Band, a performance of the Broadway show, “The Million Dollar Quartet” and Christmas on Broadway with Kellye Cash. The stage will also host the ever-popular School Time Performance Series, Miss Dixie PAC Scholarship Pageant, a Miss Tennessee Preliminary, and the Bethel University Renaissance Spring Musical.
Tickets are on sale today, Monday, August 21st for the shows and performances.
The Dixie is named for the late Dixie Carter, television, movie and theater actress, who never forgot her roots in Huntingdon.
The theatre located inside of the Dixie is named for Hal Holbrook, Dixie’s husband who is known best for his performances as Mark Twain and who contributed significantly to the theatre’s design. The Dixie also houses The Dixie Carter/Hal Holbrook Museum and The Ballroom Art Gallery.
