McKenzie, Tenn.—Police are asking the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly used fake information to receive medications from McKenzie Regional Hospital and possibly other area hospitals.
According McKenzie Police Chief Craig Moates, the man went to McKenzie Regional Tuesday, identifying himself as a police K9 trainer and claiming he received a rib injury during training. “He’s giving people the impression that he’s from some sort of fugitive recovery agency,” Moates said.
McKenzie Police Sgt. Kyle Beauchamp is leading the investigation into the situation.
Moates said the suspect is apparently using different names at different hospitals “to obtain whatever he’s trying to obtain” from the hospitals. Once it became known on social media that the suspect had done this at the McKenzie Hospital, Moates said, “We started getting calls from other areas saying he had been there, too”.
The suspect is described as a white male, 40-60 years old, six feet to six feet three inches tall and weighing 240 to 280 pounds. He has a shaved head, wearing camo cap, dark sunglasses, black t-shirt, tan cargo pants and black watch. He also is reported to be wearing a tactical vest of some sort and driving a red, four-door pickup truck with dog crate in the back.
McKenzie Police released surveillance photos of the suspect.
