Paris, Tenn.–Yvette Littleton, Henry County Truancy Prevention Officer, talks with Henry parents and students about the importance of school attendance at Henry Elementary School’s open house.”Improving attendance is an important goal this year as we work together to reduce chronic absenteeism,” said Littleton. Henry County Schools will be in session on August 4, 2017 for an abbreviated day and attendance will be taken on this day. Students in Henry, Harrelson, and Lakewood Schools will report at 7:30 a.m. and dismiss at 10:45 a.m. Grove students will report at 7:50 a.m. and dismiss at 11:15 a.m. and Henry County High School students will report at 8:00 a.m. and dismiss at 11:30 a.m.
Attendance Director, Dr. Renea Wade, was also on hand to share information. Wade said, “Every day that a student misses school, whether it is excused or unexcused, is a missed opportunity to learn. Too many missed learning opportunities may lead to a lack of math or reading proficiency in 3rd grade students or a decreased likelihood that a high school student will earn an on-time diploma.” (Photo by Susan Burton).
