Camden, Tenn.—The Benton County Electric Co. is warning its customers of a scam in which customers across Benton Co. and Tennessee are receiving calls from various numbers claiming to be from TVA/Benton County Electric stating that their bills are past due and requesting payment.
The calls originate from one phone number in particular: 1-888-284-3326.
Benton County Electric will never solicit for payment information over the phone. According to the statement, “This is a scam. We do courtesy calls, but do not request payment over the phone and the calls should come from our main number.”
The problem has been reported to the TBI. Anyone with questions should call Benton Co. Electric at 731 584 8251.
