Union City, Tenn.—Meeting in lengthy session Monday evening, the Obion County Commission approved a $12M budget for the next fiscal year and agreed to add $7 to the county’s wheel tax to help fund it.
The 2017-2018 budget shows new expenditures totaling $249,777. The new expenditures include the $50,000 incentive for the Williams’ Sausage expansion; $143,429 to equalize Obion County Sheriff’s Office salaries; $33,015 for state-mandated raises for county officials; and $23,333 to the city of Samburg for the sales tax discrepancy.
