We All Scream For Ice Cream
Paris, Tenn.-The children of Travis and Jessica McLeese are a bit puzzled at seeing Santa Claus (or at least Steve Jones looking like Santa) in July at the Atkins-Porter “Christmas In July” booth at Saturday’s Downtown Paris Ice Cream Social, Antique Car and Antique Tractor Show. Faith Bumpus watches at right. Perfect weather coupled with a wide variety of good ice cream brought out a huge crowd for the event. Brian Tower was a three-peat winner at the Ice Cream Eating contest, having won the kids’ contest three years ago and now winning the adult contests two years in a row. This year’s Kids’ contest winner was Wyatt Jones, age 12, son of Leland and Amy Jones. The Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Association booth won Best of Show. Jeff Oliver won Peoples’ Choice Tractor and Cyril Ostiguy won People’s Choice Car. Meanwhile, Jon Trosper shows how to fry oreos at the Trinity United Methodist Church booth.
