Springville, Tenn.—The driver who was seriously injured in Sunday’s head-on collision on East Antioch Rd. is listed in stable condition this morning at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Scott Bartels, age 31, of Paris, was seriously injured in the accident but was not identified in the initial accident information released to the media.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol this afternoon released the accident report to WENK/WTPR. According to the report, Bartels was driving his 1998 Chevy S-14 pickup truck eastbound on E. Antioch Rd., crossed the center line, exited the roadway onto the left shoulder and struck a large tree head-on.
Bartels was trapped inside the vehicle and Paris Landing Volunteer Firefighters extricated him, after which he was treated by EMS and then flown by Air Evac helicopter to Vanderbilt. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the accident.
