Buchanan, Tenn.—Paris Landing State Park will be hosting the Spirit of America Boating Education Program beginning this Saturday.
This is a 5-day program where students will learn to operate small boats, canoes, kayaks and sailboats. The program is open to students ages 11 and up. Participants may receive a TWRA boating certification upon successfully completing the TWRA exam. Cost of license is included in registration fees.
There will be two safety days and three boat training days, all held at Paris Landing State Park . An instructor will always accompany students, and everyone will wear life jackets at all times during the on-the-water/dockside classes. Students must commit to all camp days. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the program with no refund given.
There will be one session offered each Saturday beginning July 29 until Saturday Aug 26. The program will run from 8:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. each day. Graduation will be held at 2:30 P.M. on the last Saturday, followed by a cookout. There is a maximum of 30 students. Openings will be filled on a first-to-register basis.
