Cottage Grove School Launches Fundraising Campaign

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Cottage Grove, Tenn.—The Cottage Grove Christian School has launched a fundraising campaign to help with the expense of renovating the south wing of the school building. The school is growing but the existing building cannot handle the increase in student enrollment. Projections are that the 2018-2019 enrollment will be from 25-30 students.
An open house will be held at the school on July 4 in conjunction with the community’s Freedom Fest activities. A spaghetti supper will be held in August. And a GoFundMe account has been set up to raise funds for needed renovations. The link for the GoFundMe campaign can be found here: www.gofundme.com/CGCSrenovation
According to school officials, the renovated area will serve as the new, bigger classroom space for the students.
Cottage Grove is the smallest incorporated city in the state of Tennessee, with a population in the 80s currently. The original two-story Cottage Grove School was burned in 1938 and the current building was built in 1938. In 2004, the public school was closed due to consolidation. Later that year, however, the school reopened as a private Christian academy. In 2016, the name of the school was officially changed to Cottage Grove Christian School.
School officials said the space that was plenty for our first four students in 2004 is not enough to accommodate the projected 25-30 students who will come through the doors in August 2017. Renovations have begun to restore the south wing of the building to accommodate the number of students projected to enroll over the next few years.
The Cottage Grove School is non-profit which means all donations are tax deductible.
