Buchanan, Tenn.—The Henry County High School Fishing Team of Shawn Burkhart and Gavin Gordon are currently in second place at the end of the first day of the 2017 Bassmaster High School National Championship at Paris Landing State Park.
The local pair finished today with a catch of 22-11.
The team at the top of the leaderboard was Logan Henderson and Steven Swann with a catch of 23-12. They are from Springville, Alabama.
Bethel University Fishing Team Coach Garry Mason said Friday’s fishing may be postponed until Saturday due to the expected heavy rainfall all day tomorrow. An announcement on that will be made later.
More than 200 high school teams are at Paris Landing for the high school tournament, which is being held at the same time as the national junior high tournament, which is set at Carroll Lake near Huntingdon.
