Union City, Tenn.—The Obion County Fair Books are hot off the press and available to the public and fair officials said everyone will want to get one because of all the changes in the schedule for this year. Fair Board Vice President Blake Laws said there are a lot of new activities and the days that several traditional activities are usually held have been changed, too.
And—wait for it—Jerry “The King” Lawler is scheduled to appear at the fair’s Championship Wrestling Night during fair week.
The theme for this year’s fair is “Country Pride, County Wide” and the fair will be held from August 21-26.
Several activities will begin Saturday, August 19, including the first-ever 5K Race that will be held in conjunction with the Tyson Community Feed, that also will be held for the first time in association with the fair. (Traditionally, the Tyson community dinner is held with Corn Fest in Union City.)
Laws said, “We’ll be having a lot more pageants and they’re open to anyone in the state. We’ll have a special needs day. We’ll have our first-ever car, truck and bike show, a ranch rodeo, a motocross show, truck tractor and garden tractor show. A lot of activities. That’s why it’s important to have a fair book!”
The fair book is available now at the Obion County Extension Office or at the Obion County Library. It’s also available to download at the Obion County Fair website.
