The City of Sharon is once again searching for a new police chief.
At this week’s meeting, the Sharon City Council declined to rehire Police Chief Bryan Chandler. According to the city charter, both the police chief and city recorder must be rehired at the end of each fiscal year.
City Recorder Donna Stricklin was unanimously rehired, but the call for a motion to rehire Chief Chandler was met with silence from council. Mayor Monroe Ary asked a second and third time for a motion and again received no response. He then announced that Chandler would not be rehired.
Chandler has served as the Chief of Police for Sharon for two years.
No reason was given at the meeting for choosing not to rehire him.
