New, Improved Pioneer Day Set For Saturday

 
Henry, Tenn.—A new and improved Henry Pioneer Day is set for all day Saturday and organizers said their goal is to rebuild the event to involve the full community.
The Henry Volunteer Fire Department is planning a full day of activities for everyone, including a parade, games, live music, BBQ, fish, concessions, cake walk, a demonstration by the Paris-Henry County Rescue Squad, wrestling and fireworks.
Keith Qualls of the Fire Department said Pioneer Day has been a long-running tradition in the city of Henry and used to thrive back in the day. Over the years as businesses have closed in Henry it has taken from our Pioneer Day as a community.” He said, “This year, we are modernizing the festival as much as possible.”
The parade will begin at 10 a.m., following by concessions opening and fish dinners at 10:30 a.m., cake walk at 11 a.m., followed by bingo. At noon, the Rescue Squad demonstration will begin, with Air Evac landing on the site. The band will begin at 4 p.m., followed by wrestling at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 8 p.m.
