Union City, Tenn.–Union City Energy Authority customers experienced widespread outages throughout the city when the first of the weekend storms hit at 5:30 p.m. Friday night.
UCEA Manager Jerry Bailey said a total of about 1,500 customers were affected by the outages. One large tree on North Sixth Street knocked out the entire substation of North Fifth Street and severe winds that damaged the power lines near the Obion County Cooperative buildings were also the cause of longer outages.
Most customers were restored within an hour or so but others were out till about 8 p.m Scattered outages were finally restored about 10 p.m.
Bailey said UCEA had all available employees and contract tree trimmers working the storm. Employees continue to make permanent repairs to areas that were repaired temporarily to restore power this week.
