Paris, Tenn.–The Paris Rotary Club recently presented scholarships to local students. The Richardson Family Henry County Educational Foundation Scholarship was founded in 1997 with a gift from Dr. Bobby Richardson, a Springville native and renowned pioneer cardiovascular surgeon, to honor Dr. John Richardson, a Henry County native.
This year’s recipient of a $10,000 scholarship is Jamie Underwood. Jamie is attending the University of Memphis with a major in Psychology and a concentration in behavioral neuroscience. She is eligible to renew this scholarship for two more years. Her parents are Chris and Misty Underwood.
Alex Elliott received the Bill Caldwell Good Citizenship award in the amount of $2,000. He is the son of Steve and Amanda Elliott and plans to attend the University of Tennessee majoring in engineering.
Dr. John Richardson was a lifelong educator and held a Doctorate in Education from New York University. Dr. John went o to become the Dean of the Graduate School and acting President of The University of Memphis after serving several Henry County and West Tennessee schools. The Paris Rotary Club administers the scholarship.
