William “Bill” Finch

William “Bill” Finch,  90, of Springville, TN, died Sunday, March 26, 2023, at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

He retired as the owner and operator, alongside his wife, of Bill’s Upholstery, starting in Fulton, KY, then moving to Martin, TN.  He also formerly owned an antique and flower arrangement business in Gleason, TN.  Bill loved to fish, hunt ginseng and other herbs, and teach Sunday school in the church.  He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Buchanan, TN.  He was a former member of Beech Springs Baptist Church in Gleason, Point Pleasant Baptist Church, and Russwood Baptist Church.  Bill was a U.S. Army veteran.

Bill was born April 25, 1932, in Madison County, TN, to the late Horace Lamar Finch and the late Bennie Agnes Long Finch.

He was married February 25, 1987, to Ruth L. Finch, who survives, of Springville, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Linda Kay (Jimmy) Ward of Medina, TN, and Wanda Lynn (Armin) Shaffer of Jackson, TN; one stepdaughter, Cynthia Lynn (Rich) Franco of Seligman, AZ; two sisters, Joyce Stephenson of Gadsden, TN, and Mary Runions of Springville, TN; one brother, Harold (Norma) Finch of Hernando, MS; two grandchildren, Jay Ward and Jeremy (Winnie) Steed; one step grandchild, LeAnne (Ernie) Chastain; one great grandchild, Elliott Steed; and one step great grandchild, Maddox Chastain.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son; two sisters, Shirley Smith and Frances Singleton; and two brothers, George Finch and Richard Finch.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason, TN, with Bro. Russell Ragsdale and Tony Flowers officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Taylor, Aldie Tatum, Gary Fletcher, Bobby Compton, Danny Williams, and Alan Harris.  Named as an honorary pallbearer is Ernie Ward.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Hopewell Cemetery.
