Paris, Tenn.–If you like music and Civil War history, the Paris Academy for the Arts will be the place to be Satuday night.
Tickets are still available for the program, “One Song, Two Voices” by Dan Knowles, Eddie Coffey & Friends, set for 7 p.m. Saturday, February 4. Knowles and Coffey have been performing on showboats on the Mississippi River for several years.
The program is hosted by the Paris/Henry County Bicentennial Committee. It will be held in the Ray Harding Lunchroom at the Academy, located on Lee St. in Paris.
Knowles said, “During the American Civil War, songs supporting the war effort were written and published on both sides and then were almost immediately rewritten by the opponents. This concert will present many of these songs with their opposing interpretations along with images of the people who lived those songs.”
Knowles has been performing musical programs in Paris for years and is the artist responsible for many of the downtown Paris murals.
Paris/Henry County Bicentennial merchandise–which includes t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs and more–will be available for sale at the program.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the door, as well as the Chamber office, W.G. Rhea Public Library, and LuraLee’s of Paris.
