Henry County Schools Awarded $50,700 UTrust Grant

Paris, Tenn.–Henry County School System has received a total of $50,700 from Utrust to help the schools and school district to recognize and show appreciation to school employees.

Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins made application for the funds from Utrust to be distributed to schools for recognition activities organized by administration at the school and student appreciation teams as follows:

 

  • $2250 for Lakewood School
  • $2250 for Henry County High School
  • $1250 for Henry and Henry County Virtual Academy 
  • $1250 for Harrelson  
  • $1250 for E.W. Grove

 

Additionally, $9250 will be used for staff appreciation activities organized and administered by the school system and an additional $17,500 for the district.

 

Dr. Watkins said, “We believe we have the best employees in any school district in Tennessee and we want them to know that we value every one of them and deeply appreciate what they do to Henry County Schools great places for them to work and the best places for children to learn.

 

Dr. Watkins continued, “We deeply appreciate Utrust making these funds available to our schools. We also appreciate them making the Utrust Appreciation Program available to our schools.  We think it is important to help our students learn the art of recognizing and expressing appreciation to school employees who do things for them every day.”

 

Dr. Dan Tollett, Utrust administrator said, “We are pleased to fund projects that will make a big difference in schools. We believe this project will make a big difference to students and staff in Henry County Schools. We appreciate Dr. Watkins submitting this request and allowing us to be a part of such a worthy project.”

 

Utrust is an organization that assists school systems in Tennessee with unemployment issues and in recognizing, supporting and appreciating school employees. It sponsors the Utrust Appreciation Program, a student leadership program that seeks to help students recognize and express appreciation to people who make their lives better each day. Henry County Schools participate in the program.

 

Henry County is one of 51 school systems in Tennessee that will receive Utrust grants this month totaling more than $1 million.
