Mrs. Gayle Keel, 87, of Dover, Tennessee, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022, at Diversicare of Dover.
She was born July 20, 1935 in Charlotte, NC, daughter of the late Joseph and Wilma Sargent. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband: Nathan Keel; brother: Michael Sargent, and sister: Brenda Dodson.
Mrs. Keel was the first female barber in western New York. She owned and operated her own shop in Niagara Falls, New York: Gayle’s Barber Shop. When she moved to Dover, she worked at Holiday Barber Shop in Clarksville, Tennessee.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dover.
Survivors include her son: Gary Keel and his wife, Louise, of Niagara Falls, New York; brother: Joseph Sargent, of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren: Lorena Cap (Ian) and April Lund (Jason), and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Anglin Funeral Home with Bro. Willie Lyle officiating.
Burial will follow in the Heflin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time-of-service Wednesday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
