Lois Smith Mecord

Lois Smith Mecord, 76, of Paris, died Friday, November 11, 2022, at her residence.

Born Sunday, June 2, 1946, in Elizabeth, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Smith and the late Norma Davis Smith. In addition to her parents, Lois was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law: Jan Smith.

Lois was a retired paralegal, having worked for the Hawley and Marshall, and Greer and Greer law firms. She enjoyed making things for others through her talents in painting, sewing, quilting and cooking. Spending time with and loving her grandchildren was a priority in her life. She was a member of VanDyke Church Christ.

Lois married Philip Michael “Mike” Mecord, of Paris, Saturday, April 13, 1974. He survives.

Along with her husband, she is also survived by her daughters: Nicole (Byron) Breeding, of Henderson, Tennessee, and Rebecca “Becky” Mecord, of Paris; two brothers: William “Bill” (Kyle) Smith, of Milan, and Doug Smith, of Columbia; five grandchildren: Isabella Veliz, Emma Breeding, Laine Veliz, Jaxon Veliz, and Britton Breeding; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./ P.O. Box 788, Paris, Tennessee, 38242, will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Ridgeway Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and continue Wednesday, November 16, 2022, after 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Ridgeway Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Randy Stephens officiating.

Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Byron Breeding, Franklin Hutchison, Rocky Veliz, Sam McMinn, and Jay Black.

Cremation will follow the service.
