Jean Askew Carl

Jean Askew Carl, 77, of Paris, Tennessee, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.

She was a longtime secretary for the Hearing Care Center in Texas.  Jean loved raising her children and enjoyed her family and extended family.  She enjoyed her work, where she won secretary of the month award, and loved watching TV, especially game shows.  She formerly attended Clear Lake Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, where she enjoyed visiting members.

Jean was born Monday, September 18, 1944, in Model, Tennessee, to the late Thomas Lee Askew and the late Winnie Herndon Askew. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son Brian Wendell Carl; one sister Norma Cook; and one brother-in-law JW Atkins.

She was married Saturday, September 11, 1965, to Richard Wendell Carl, who survives, of Paris.

Along with her husband, she is also survived by one daughter Angela (Randy) Stoda, missionaries serving in Latvia; two sons: David Scott Carl, of Paris, and Brad Alan Carl of Houston, Texas; one daughter-in-law: Jamie Carl of Houston, Texas; three sisters: Janell Atkins, of Clarksville, Tennessee, Vanetta (Dennis) Stavely, of Dover, Tennessee, and Lauretta Askew, of Clarksville, Tennessee; one brother-in-law: Darrell Cook, of Clarksville, Tennessee; and four grandchildren: Andrew Stoda, Kayleigh Stoda, Nathan Stoda, and Cade Carl.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, Tennessee, 38242.  Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

A graveside committal service will be held Monday, May 23, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Corinth Cemetery in Stewart County, Tennessee, with burial to follow.
