No Henry County Farmers Market This Summer

Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Farmers Market will not be open this summer.

The Farmers Market Committee announced, “Due to unfortunate circumstances, the Farmers Market Committee would like the public to know of our decision not to have the market this year.”

Committee member Michelle Hopkins said there are several reasons behind the decision: the fair board is painting the pavilion at the fairgrounds; and scheduling and availability of someone to open and close the gates.

She said it was a tough decision to make. “With the multiple venues that will be asking for vendors, we feel the Farmers Market buyers and sellers will have adequate opportunity to get the products they want,” she said, noting the number of roadside stands and other local venues for local produce currently.

Next year we plan  have a someone that would be able to open and close the fairgrounds and monitor the Farmers Market,” she said.

Meanwhile, the area Farmers Markets in Murray, Martin and Dresden have opened for the summer and the McKenzie Farmers Market will open June 4.
