Mayfield, Ky.–At a special presentation, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear came bearing gifts for the people of Mayfield: $16M from the state’s Tornado Relief Fund and a new Kentucky Colonel certificate for Mayfield Mayor Kathy O’Nan.

O’Nan’s certificate was blown away–along with much of Mayfield–in December’s massive tornado outbreak.

Governor Beshear said, “Mayfield Mayor Kathy O’Nan has faced challenges that no one could have foreseen, yet she has done so with great leadership and compassion for her people. When I learned the tornado took her Kentucky Colonel certificate, I knew we had to make that right. So today in Mayfield, I was proud to present Mayor O’Nan with a new colonel, because there is no one more deserving.”

The governor also announced that $16 million from the Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund will help provide up to 300 new homes for families in 13 impacted counties.
“Thank you to every single person and organization who donated. Because of your generosity, our folks will be able to recover and rebuild,” he said.
