Union City Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Officer

Union City, Tenn.–A Union City man is charged with attempted murder of a police officer following a pursuit and crash of a stolen vehicle Monday on Interstate 55.

Clarence Taylor Hicks, age 25, was taken into custody in Missouri and faces numerous charges.

The incident began when Union City Police were called to Sheridan Drive where a resident said his truck–a 2018 Ram 1500–had been stolen from his house.

Meanwhile, Union City Police were notified by the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office there was a pursuit underway involving the stolen vehicle.

According to Union City Police, Hicks had crashed the truck after he attempted to strike a police officer while he was placing spike strips on the roadway.

Hicks is facing the attempted murder charge in Missouri, with other charges also filed in Dyer County and Union City.
