Union City, Tenn.–Carter Bondurant has added another postseason accolade to his list of honors.

Bondurant — voted Region 7-2A’s top lineman last month in balloting of league coaches — was selected to the Class 2A Tennessee Football Coaches Association All State team, according to information released by that group.

The Union City High School senior center was one of five linemen picked for the squad, which had 26 offensive players in all. There were 22 players chosen for the Class 2A defense.

Bondurant was the man in the middle of the Tornadoes’ offensive line that paved the way for the Purple and Gold to rush for nearly 270 yards per game during UC’s 7-4 campaign last fall. His physicality in the run game allowed the Twisters to average over five yards-per-play.

“Carter had a really good senior season, and several people took notice,” Tornado head coach Nick Markle said of Bondurant. “Obviously, the people we played were aware of what he did for us, and other coaches around the state – either by word of mouth or by watching tape – saw some of the same things.

“He worked really hard in the weight room in the offseason and that helped him deal with the normal bumps and bruises of the grind of the season without a drop-off in his play. It meant a lot for Carter to play football for Union City and our program certainly benefitted from his passion and commitment.”

The Tennessee Sports Writers Association will announce their All-State teams next week.
