Stewart County, Tenn.–Sophie the English Bulldog who was found last week abandoned in Big Rock is now home and safe with her original owners–who came all the way from Colorado to Stewart County over the weekend to get her.
The story starts with Good Samaritans Glenda Meeks and Connie Ross Wilson. Glenda is the one who first saw the bulldog while walking and went to Connie asking for help.
Connie said, “So we both got involved– Glenda with food and I with leash — and I brought her home with me.”
Thanks to the dog being microchipped, Connie and Glenda were able to track down her original owners and begin the process of reuniting her with her family. They found that Sophie belonged to a military family who are now in Colorado. “When her family learned of Sophie’s whereabouts there was no hesitation as to what to do– they were traveling from Colorado to Big Rock, TN. to get their girl,” Connie said.
“When Sophie was around two years old, due to the family having to move overseas, they gave her to someone else. So after three years of being with a second owner, for some unknown reason she was found in Big Rock. There still must be more to the story. But right now only Sophie knows. The good part is she is going home to Colorado to be with her original family who is very excited to get her back.”
Three years after Sophie was given to a friend of the family, Connie said,  “She was found on the lonely, backwoods, country deadend road that joins the backside of Fort Campbell Army Base. How and why she got there, we do not know for sure,” she said.
Connie thanked North Stewart Animal Clinic for running the scan for the microchip and calling to locate the owners.
A video on Connie’s Facebook page shows the reunion, with Sophie running to her family and there’s no doubt she remembered them.
What a weet, perfect, happy ending.
