The McKenzie Rebels defeated the defending state champion Fayetteville 14 to 8 Friday night, moving on to the semi-finals next week. In the process, the Rebels continue their perfect season. The Fayetteville team was the defending state champs.

The game was a back and forth nail bitter for both teams before the Rebels scored first in the second half and completed the pat to take a 7-0 lead.  They would score a second touchdown, complete the pat to lead 14 to 0.

The Fayetteville squad didn’t give up and came back scoring a touchdown and completing a two point conversion to make the score 14 to 8.  The defense would have to hold the Tigers to keep the win and that’s exactly what they would do.

The win advances the Rebels to the semifinals next weekend in McKenzie against neighboring Trenton Peabody High school which defeated Lake County 40 to 18.
