Benton County, Tenn.–Benton County Sheriff Kenny Christopher has provided more details into the death of a man whose body was found Tuesday. Christopher said Timothy Ring had been shot ‘more than once’ on his property in the Lower Big Sandy Road area.
Christopher told RadioNWTN that Ring, who was 55, had left his home, telling family he was going to work on his deer stand. Hours later, his family found his truck in the field which led to the discovery of his body.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office and TBI have been busy investigating the homicide since Ring’s death was announced Tuesday evening.
Christopher said the deer stand was found in the back of Ring’s truck.
The sheriff said the investigation is still ongoing, but is near to being closed as information and evidence is collected.
Ring was an engineer with CSX Transportation and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Services for Ring will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home in Big Sandy, TN. Burial will follow in the Baker’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 pm and again on Saturday, October 23, 2021 for 10:00-1:00 pm.
