Report: Tennessee Ranks No. 1 In US For New COVID Cases Per Capita

Nashville, Tenn.–According to researchers at Johns Hopkins, Tennessee now ranks first in the country for new COVID cases per capita.

As of Tuesday, one in every 81 Tennesseans had tested positive for the virus during the past week, according to the study by Johns Hopkins.

In Tennessee, the average number of new cases daily has risen by nearly 90 percent since August 29, to nearly 12,000 new cases a day as of Sunday.

According to the September 14 report from the State Department of Health, there are 5,089 more positive cases since the day before and 127 more deaths statewide since the day before.

In Henry County, the September 14 report showed 350 active cases, with 27 new cases reported since the day before and 159 hospitalized.

In Obion County, the September 14 report showed 407 active cases, with 25 new cases since the day before and 167 hospitalized.
