Cottage Grove, Tenn.–The Henry County Airport is shut down temporarily while repairs on a sinkhole near the runway are completed. Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway said the repairs began on Monday and must be completed within 30 days, “but we’re well ahead of that schedule. We’re hoping to reopen before that.” The Airport was shut down temporarily in April when the sinkhole first appeared and was reopened for light aircraft when a shortened section of the runway was approved for use. Airport Manager Bob Nolan said the repairs being performed now by J.R. Hayes Construction Co. workers will complete the repair project.
