Area Firefighters Gather For 9/11 Memorial Climb At Discovery Park

disco-climb

Union City, Tenn.–It was an emotional morning at Discovery Park of America as area firefighters gathered for the annual 9/11 Memorial Climb. This year’s event was especially solemn as it is the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
Discovery Park partnered with the Union City Fire Department and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to host the event, which was sponsored by the city of Union City. Nursing students from the University of Tennessee at Martin Nursing Department were on hand to keep everyone safe.
Firefighters climbed the Discovery Park Tower staircase 10 times in full gear, the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.
National Fallen Firefighter Foundation Event Coordinator Sonya Roth was on hand for the tribute, which was streamed online for those who could not attend.
