Dyersburg, Tenn.–Dyersburg Police are investigating an Easter Sunday shooting that left a local man wounded but uncooperative with officers.
Around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, April 4, Dyersburg police responded to St. Joseph Street in reference to a person who had been shot. Officers arrived and discovered a 37-year-old Dyersburg man sitting in his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to the press release, the victim was not cooperative with officers, and would only indicate the shooting occurred on the Eastside. The victim’s vehicle had been struck multiple times by gunfire.
Officers on the scene rendered aid until EMS arrived. Other officers located what is believed to be the shooting scene on Fair Street where they collected evidence. The victim was transported to Dyersburg West Tennessee Healthcare Hospital where his condition is unknown.
This is the second time officers have responded to the same address in reference to a shooting victim. During an incident there January 26 of this year, a 60-year-old woman and a 12-year-old child suffered minor injuries after the car they were occupying was shot multiple times.
The victims were parked on the street assisting their neighbor who was having car trouble. The neighbor’s vehicle window was also struck by gunfire.
Officers located (10) .223 rifle shell casings across the street in a church parking lot. The previous shooting is believed to be related to the recent shootings and is under investigation.
