Paris, Tenn.–Tributes have been pouring in for long-time Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy John Krezinski, Jr. since the announcement of his passing Saturday.

Krezinski was 71 and died at his home after a lengthy illness. Krezinski was a former Oakland Volunteer Department Chief and what many call the epitome of the word ‘volunteer’.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Craig Peeveyhouse officiating. Cremation will follow services.

Krezinski was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving 38 years. He served 27 years on the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, served as a Constable for 20 years; several years as Chief of Oakland Fire Department; school bus mechanic for 30 years; also as a member of the drug task force. He also worked security for the Henry County High School football and basketball games for many years; was very active with the Henry County Sheriff’s Dept. Animal Shelter. John was well known as a family man and devoted husband who loved spending time with his family.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office posted a tribute on its Facebook page: “It is with heavy hearts that the Henry County Sheriffs Office announces the passing of Deputy John Krezinski, 510. John has volunteered his time at the Sheriffs Office serving in so many capacities. If there was prisoner transport out of state, John was the man. If there were inmates needing transported to the court house, John was the man. If there was a Henry County athletic event, John was there. John sacrificed and dedicated his time to the Henry County Sheriffs Office and to the great citizens of Henry County. John is irreplaceable and words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation for John and the manner that he has served. He will be dearly missed. Thank you John.”
The Oakland Fire Department posted: “He joined the department back in 1995. He was pivotal in getting the fire department the equipment it needed, including a brand new pumper back in 2004. He served his community strongly. He is the very definition of a volunteer. Not even cancer kept him from serving the community he loved. He will be sorely missed. Fly high, Chief!!”

Named as honorary pallbearers are, J.J. Krezinski, Chad Cox, Andy Clark, Mike Potete, Monte Belew, Damon Lowe, Adam Jenkins, Steve Page, Steve Dean and the rest of the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.
