Dyer County, Tenn.–Dyer County was hit hard by last night’s severe storms, with the steeple torn off a Newbern church and homes damaged or destroyed.
The steeple was ripped off the First Baptist Church in Newbern on W. Main Street during the powerful storms that moved through early Monday evening. In a Facebook post, church officials posted photos of the damage with the message, “Still the same God in the valley as He is on the Mountain.”
Among numerous damage reports, trees were uprooted and toppled on homes in the Bogota community and on Williams Street in Newbern. A mobile home near Newbern was destroyed and the resident treated at a local hospital.
