Soil Conservation District Grant Finances Second HCHS Greenhouse

Paris, Tenn.–Henry County High School and the Paris FFA now have a second greenhouse, thanks to a grant from the Henry County Soil Conservation District Board. Board Chairman Don Norwood said, “We decided we wanted to sponsor this project for the kids.”

Norwood presented a check for $7,480 Friday to Paris FFA Advisor Laura Moss and HCHS Greenhouse Teacher John Harrison. Other Conservation Board members on hand were Sarah Brewer, David WIlson, and Andy Troutt.

The greenhouse was built Friday, from start to finish by Scenic Acres Greenhouse Mfg. of Elkton, Ky. The crew started in the morning and was done by noon.

District Soil Conservationist Ron Harrison said his agency, which is located in Paris, have educational grants available. The greenhouse at Inman School also was financed with such a grant. He said HCHS applied for the grant in September.

Moss said the second greenhouse was needed because the program has grown so much “we were getting pretty cramped. This will allow us more opportunities that we don’t have now.”
