By Shannon McFarlin News Director
McKenzie, Tenn.–After preliminary investigation, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is saying that ‘no foul play’ appears to be involved in the shooting of a juvenile Tuesday afternoon in McKenzie, but that the shooting appears to be an accident.
TBI Public Information Officer Kelli McAllister updated the agency’s earlier statement on the incident and said, “At the request of 24th Judicial District Attorney General Matt Stowe, TBI Agents have joined the McKenzie Police Department in investigating a shooting in the 40 block of Euclid Ave. in McKenzie, this afternoon, in which a juvenile was injured.
“Preliminary information indicates there was no foul play involved but the shooting was an accident.  Our joint investigation remains active and ongoing as we work to fully determine the circumstances surrounding this incident,” she said.
The victim was reportedly shot in the head near the intersection of Euclid and Elm and was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m.
