Congressman Kustoff To Speak At Bethel Commencement

McKenzie, Tenn.– – Congressman David Kustoff will speak at Bethel University’s Spring 2018 Commencement, set for Saturday, May 5 in the Rosemary and Harry Crisp II Arena on the school’s McKenzie campus.
There will be two ceremonies. The first, at 10 a.m., will be for those graduating with undergraduate degrees. The second service, for those receiving graduate degrees, will be at 1 p.m., at which Cong. Kustoff will speak. He represents Tennessee’s 8th district.
David Kustoff’s roots run deep in West Tennessee. He was born and raised in Shelby County where he attended White Station High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Memphis and graduated in 1992 from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
Over the years, Kustoff has served in various roles for the Republican Party, such as Chairman of the Shelby County GOP, Tennessee Chairman of Lamar Alexander’s successful run for U.S. Senate in 2002 and Tennessee Chairman of both Bush/Cheney presidential campaigns.
Appointed U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee by President Bush in 2006, Kustoff set his sights on cleaning up government corruption and fighting violent crime and drugs.
In 2015, Governor Bill Haslam appointed Kustoff to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, where he oversaw the implementation of the Tennessee Promise program.
Kustoff was elected in 2016 to the House of Representatives for the 8th District of Tennessee. He is now a member of the House Financial Services Committee, a committee that will allow him to fight mandates and regulations that are crushing small businesses and will stand up against wasteful government spending.
Seating for both graduation services will begin one hour prior to service time. Graduates with questions should contact their specific school’s registrar. For all other general questions, contact Myra Carlock at 731-352-4090 or at carlockm@bethelu.edu.
