Paris, Tenn.—A car which the owner says he was restoring was destroyed by fire at 5 a.m. Saturday on Thompson Street in Paris.
Paris Firefighters were called to 317 Thompson St. on a report of a car on fire and found the vehicle, a 1985 Toyota Celica fully engulfed in fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.
With further investigation, firefighters said there was no battery in the car and the owner said he was in the process of restoring it.
The car was parked in the back yard at the time of the blaze.
On Friday night, Paris Firefighters were called to 109 Oliver Street on a report of a possible structure fire. Instead, they found a fire burning in a burn pit and the citizen doing the burning did not have a burn permit.
According to the fire department report, the citizen also had placed unacceptable items in the pit and was under the influence while doing so.
The fire department extinguished the fire.
