Update: Suspect Kills Self After Pursuit

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Paris, Tenn.—A police chase and standoff involving Henry County and Calloway County deputies Sunday ended tragically when the suspect killed himself.
Trevor Trull, age 33, of Cherry St., Puryear, was pronounced dead at the scene after he took his own life. Henry County Deputies had issued warrants for Trull’s arrest earlier in the week on assault and theft charges.
During the hours-long situation Sunday, Trull stole guns and four vehicles and injured an elderly man during one of the thefts. Trull also stole a vehicle and guns from the Shady Grove Market. In addition, Trull shot out of his windows while being pursued by Henry County deputies, pointed a gun at Cpl. Brian Davis, and tried to break into a home across the state line in rural Calloway Co.
The residents of that home took shelter in an upstairs room and armed themselves during the stand off.
According to Captain Adam Jenkins, deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded along with Calloway County units and began in a vehicle pursuit of Trull.
“The incident began earlier in the day when Calloway County stopped a vehicle that Trull was a passenger in,” he said. “The driver of that vehicle was detained by Calloway County, during this time Trull moved over to the driver’s seat and fled the scene.”
Officers gave chase but eventually lost contact with the vehicle. Later, Calloway County responded to a call of a wreck. “While investigating that call they discovered that the wrecked vehicle had also been stolen by Trull, during this time they spotted Trull in a third stolen vehicle,” Jenkins said. “They later discovered that this vehicle was stolen from an elderly man who had been assaulted by Trull during the theft.”
The elderly was transported to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment as a result. Calloway County gave chase to this vehicle but eventually lost contact near the Tennessee-Kentucky state line.
Jenkins said, “After learning of the situation Sgt. Bryan Hall and Cpl. Brian Davis responded to the area. Cpl. Davis spotted the stolen vehicle at Shady Grove Market in Henry County. While the two were investigating the stolen vehicle, Trull had already made his way inside the business.”
“Unknown to Hall and Davis, Trull had robbed the owner and had stolen two guns from the store. Trull then ran outside and stole a fourth car and fled north toward Kentucky. Hall and Davis immediately pursued the vehicle,” Jenkins said. “During the chase Trull held a gun out the window and fired shots.”
Calloway County units then rejoined the pursuit and were able to successfully deploy spike strips resulting in the vehicles tires being flattened. Trull then pulled into the driveway of a home in Calloway County.
“Trull jumped out of the car and pointed his gun at Cpl. Davis who was forced to take cover. Trull then tried to break in to the home but was unsuccessful. The owners of the home, in fear for their safety, took shelter in an upstairs bedroom and had armed themselves,” Jenkins said.
During this time officers had surrounded the home. Trull then turned the gun on himself. “Officers from both counties tried to reason with Trull in an effort to end the incident peacefully but Trull ignored officers and shot himself. EMS workers quickly arrived on scene but were unable to revive Trull. He was pronounced dead on the scene,” Jenkins said.
Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew said, “We are very happy that this extremely violent incident ended without any officers or innocent bystanders lives lost as well.”
