Paris, Tenn.–Thirteen Henry County High School students have been chosen to participate in this year’s Henry County Youth Leadership Development (HCYLD) program. Those students include: Charles Backer, Seth Bucy, Cassalynn Callahan, Ansley Kate, Savanah Hunt, Logan Lacy, Nick Metzinger, Sabrina Odom, Kelsey Peoples, Abigail St. Clair, William Wang, Laura Whitby, and Mae Whitby. The students recently attended a team building day at Covenant Ranch where they participated in the Challenge Course which includes different elements designed to improve teamwork, communication and trust within the group.
During the 2017-2018 school year, the students will participate in activities aimed at building their leadership skills and awareness of the issues and needs of our community. The Youth Leadership sessions include topics such as agriculture, arts and history, healthcare, local government, economic development and tourism. The goal of the HCYLD program is to provide potential future leaders with a stronger knowledge of the many facets of our community. A few examples of this include, the opportunities for volunteering or employment, how their educational focus could prepare them for service to our community, and how they can participate in activities that could improve our community in the future.
This is the second year of the Henry County Youth Leadership Development Program. The program is a joint effort between the Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce and the Henry County School System and is funded through monetary donations from local businesses and civic organizations.
