South Fulton/Fulton—The 55th Annual Banana Festival really gets going Wednesday with the opening of the carnival, the Tyson Foods Community Meal and live music.
Both the carnival and Tyson Community Meal begin at 5 p.m., with chalk art and a walking trail in Unity Park from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the Faith and Family Night Performing Group at 6 p.m. Their performance will be at the Amphitheater in Unity Park.
The rest of the week will be busy, too, with Thursday seeing vendors opening downtown all day, the carnival open from 5-10 p.m., the Kiddie Parade at 6 p.m. and Fulton’s Got Talent at 7.
On Friday, you can drop off your entries for the Banana Bake Off from 7:30-8:45 a.m. at the senior citizens center, with judging at 9 a.m. A health fair will be held from 8-11 a.m., with vendors downtown again all day and carnival opening at 5. The Fulton’s Got Talent winner will perform at 7 p.m. at the amphitheater and Shelby Lee Lowe and Brandon Holland will perform afterward.
Saturday is the big day, with the Rotary club car show and Banana 5K in the morning. The Banana Brawl will be held at 10 a.m. at Pontotoc Park, followed by the Greased Pig Contest at 1 p.m., Doggie Pageant at 2:30 p.m., the Lion’s Club Grand Parade at 5 p.m., and the one-ton banana pudding will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. The parade will begin at Broadway in South Fulton and move to Lake Street in Fulton.
More concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the Fulton’s Got Talent winner again performing, followed by Brennly Brown and Keith Anderson.
