Archery Day At The Refuge Is Saturday

Springville, Tenn.–Back by popular demand, the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge will once again host “Archery Day at the Refuge” at the visitor center located at 1371 Wildlife Drive in Springville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16th.
The event targets the young and adult, as well as experienced archers and brand new beginners.  It will consist of a short class on beginning archery, and time on a practice archery range. If participants are feeling adventurous, a challenge 3D course will be available along the Discovery Nature Trail to test their skills. Families or groups of friends can compete in this course while walking a beautiful woodland trail along the shoreline of Kentucky Lake.

As always, this event and entry into the refuge Visitor Center are free to the public. The Visitor Center will be open from 8  to 4 pm; however, the archery event runs from 10– 3  pm. All are invited, whether inexperienced with a bow or considered an archer.  The refuge will provide all equipment for the day and asks that no personal archery equipment be used during the event.

The event will also be an unveiling of the refuge’s newest feature on the half mile Discovery Nature trail just adjacent to the Visitor Center.  The “Animal Olympics Challenge Course” consists of exercise stations along the trail where kids can learn about local wildlife while challenged to some physical task such as jumping like a deer, hopping like a frog, or hanging like a bat.
