Union City, Tenn.—A Tiptonville man was arrested by Union City Police Saturday afternoon after he was found with a ‘brick’ of marijuana.
Deandrea Clark, age 29, 306 Wynn St., was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, tampering with evidence and driving without a license.
Clark was stopped in the 830 block of North Everett Blvd. after police noted no visible license plate. Police said they observed him moving around inside the car while stopped and they smelled an odor of raw marijuana. According to the report, Clark also appeared visibly nervous.
Police asked him how much marijuana he had just picked up and Clark said he was just visiting a friend at Veterans’ Park. He did tell officers he had a small amount of marijuana on the floor.
Police conducted a probable cause search and found the back panel in the back seat had been tampered with and found one brick of marijuana weighing 3.8 ounces inside the back panel. According to the report, Clark’s cell phone received an “excessive” number of calls after he was taken to jail, leading them to conclude he was going to be selling the marijuana. They seized $173 in currency.
Police were unable to seize the vehicle he was driving because he belongs to his girlfriend and because of the way the lease was written.
